The Campgrounds at Howard Prairie Resort feature nearly 300 campsites, about half with utilities, for all sizes of tents, trailers and motorhomes. Over 95% of the people who visit the resort come back year after year!
Reservations: Over 300 sites are available at the resort, nearly half with utilities. Because there are so many sites, reservations are not accepted for camping. We rarely have to turn people away, but on weekends from the middle of June to Labor day we typically reach, or nearly reach capacity in the campgrounds. We suggest calling ahead to check availability if you plan on arriving on Friday or Saturday (541.482.1979).
Public Facilities: Each campground has two large public restrooms with showers. Public water spickets are available in close proximity to all of the dry camp sites as are grey water dumps
About Televisions: Cable television cable and land phone lines are not provided. Most sites, however, get good to excellent satellite television reception with both DirectTV and Dish Network.
About Cellular Phones: Cellular phone reception is marginal here, although with an external antenna is not bad in most places. Pay phones are available at the store.
Internet Service: High speed wireless is available at the store/restaurant for a nominal fee.
Pets: Pets are allowed in the campgrounds. A maximum of two dogs are allowed in each campsite and may not be left unattended at any time.
Family Reunions and Other Groups (25 or more people): We do not have a specified area for groups that want to camp, although we are a big enough campground that we can easily accommodate groups as large as 250 people. Although we do not take reservations, if you contact us well in advance of your arrival date we can try to protect enough campsites in close proximity to each other to accommodate your group. Every year we take care of several dozen groups ranging in size from 25 to 250 in this manner, this includes RV clubs that want hookups. "Protecting sites" means that we go out the morning you are to arrive and rope off sites for you so they cannot by taken before you get there later in the day. We typically do not protect less than 8 sites per group. A note: protecting sites for large groups is a difficult thing in the best of circumstances. Doing so during the peak vacation season is impossible so we do not do so from the third week in June to the second week of August.
