| Howard Prairie Rainbow 5000 charity fishing derby: The Howard Prairie Rainbow 5000 charity fishing derby is an annual charity fishing derby held in June. This year's event was held on June 23, 2007. The 2008 derby will be held on either June 21 or June 28, we'll let you know as soon as we know. $5000 is up for grabs in the derby. There are four different divisions, two individual and two team, and a sweepstakes award for the largest fish in any division. Prizes range from $600.00 for the winner in the team divisions to $25.00 for 6th place in either of the individual divisions. A $500.00 sweepstakes prize is also awarded to the largest fish in any division. Here is a small gallery of photos from the post-derby awards ceremony. |

| Over $3500.00 was raised for local charities in this, our inaugural year. The 2008 Howard Prairie Rainbow 5000 Charity Fishing Derby charities were the Boys and Girls Club, Rogue Valley, the Southern Oregon office of Oregon Mentors, the Disabilities Recreation Project, and a local Foster Parents Association. This year's tournament is being held in memory of Andrew Robert LeGrande who tragically passed away this winter at the age of 28. Please click here to learn more about Andy.
